Being in Colorado has been AMAZErful! I find irony in how the south has laid claim to the term “southern hospitality” and yet Colorado has by far been the easiest place I’ve lived in for making friends. Guess we have “transplant hospitality”, huh? I’m also looking forward to rebooting my photography!
We’ve embarked on many fun-packed adventures since our September move. I covered some in my last post, but I felt like I needed a whole new post about this interesting time of explorations & discoveries in our lives. So, once again, since we’ve been in Colorado, we’ve…
…Attended one of the infamous Colorado coffin races! The Emma Crawford Coffin Race takes place annually in Manitou Springs on the weekend before or during Halloween. Over 2000 people line the sidewalks of the downtown strip to cheer on theme-clad teams hauling it down the street with their “Emma” in a boxcar-like coffin.
Here were a few of my favorite teams:
…Dressed up as Mary Poppins for Halloween!
…Hopped into Turret Arch on New Year’s Day during my first Arches National Park visit. Seriously, Moab rocks!
…Decided I liked snowshoeing enough to invest in my own pair.
…Tried my hand at cake pops for the first time. They were delicious & made a small tasty treat I could grab out of the freezer!
…Played shuffleboard on Saint Patty’s Day with old & new friends.
…Spent a bit of time pondering life (& my pasty whiteness) under the cherry trees during bloom. All the while, catching up with an old friend.
…Hung out in Rapid City’s Artist Alley, once again pondering life. I do that a lot.
…Beheld Mount Rushmore for the first time with adult eyes. We also came across all kinds of strange animals crossing the roads of Black Hills National Forest.
…Drove up to Devil’s tower, only to turn around & head for home. We’ll go into the park someday.
What’s next, you may wonder? How about a Europe trip?!
