Ben & Kristin married in a beautiful Deer Creek Valley Ranch wedding last fall. The ranch is the epitome of Colorado’s beauty with it’s rustic barn and gorgeous meadow ceremony spot as Mt Evans looks on from a distance. Even more in the fall with the aspens changing.
When I met with Kristin & Ben the first time, it was a chilly night in Denver. We huddled around a table at one of my favorite go-to spots, Highland Cork & Coffee, and chatted over drinks. I love hearing how my couples met and their story was definitely one I’ll never forget. They met on Tinder – not particularly notorious for matching you with your spouse. For their first date, they went on a hike and I remember the certainty in Ben’s words of how he described that date, “This was it. There was no one else.” We talked about what they wanted in their wedding photography and they described my work and approach back in a way that I knew they were my people – they just got me.
Once I arrived for the wedding day, they were every bit as warm & fun as I remembered from our initial meeting. And that’s exactly how I would describe their wedding….

Let me just say a few things I know about Kristin – she’s an accomplished triathlete and outdoor enthusiast …AND an incredible baker. Much to my delight, she had caught wind of my sweet tooth and presented me with homemade “thank you” cupcakes on the wedding day. I have no idea where she found the time to do such a thoughtful thing the week of her wedding, but they were delicious!
In trying to plan a Colorado fall wedding, Kristin & Ben were hoping to catch the peak of the aspens turning. And that they did! The aspen trees gave us a range of green to yellow to even that burnt marigold.
Last time I photographed a Deer creek Valley Ranch wedding, the rain began right as the ceremony was scheduled to start. Everyone huddled under the covered bridge. This time the rain clouds held off until right after the ceremony. We all huddled under the covered bridge once again and we were concerned we’d need to move the family photos but I had faith it would pass and it did! And thank goodness because look at this happy couple with those aspens!
Every time I get excited when toasts begin because sometimes I get to hear the “dirt” on my couple. haha. And their toasters surely brought it – had us all in tears from laughter! Afterwards we headed to the patio for their first dance followed by ice cream sandwiches for dessert and a glow stick party.
Most importantly, these two will be welcoming their baby girl later this year! Congrats all around Kristin & Ben! It was a pleasure to be part of your day!
