I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this newborn session left an indelible mark on my heart.
I’ve sat here wondering what to write that could do their story justice. Knowing me, I’d sit here forever and never quite be satisfied though, so I’ll just tell it. Aria was born at the beginning of July to two sweet parents, Christina & Brandon. The night before the shoot her father Brandon received confirmation that his cancer had returned, days shy of his three year remission anniversary. We moved forward with the shoot, acknowledging but trying not to be too affected by the weight of everything, at least for that moment.
Despite everything my own family has been through in the last year & a half, I couldn’t pretend to know what Brandon & Christina are feeling or going through; however, I do understood the significance of these images. They have a difficult road ahead, so it was & is that much more important we took the time to focus on and celebrate Aria’s arrival …the 6lbs 8oz of sweetness, the joy of ten little toes & fingers, the peace of a sleeping newborn. I’m honored they chose me to spend that moment & commemorate it with them. This IS why I’m a photographer.
We are praying for a full recovery for Brandon & encouragement for this amazing, strong little momma Christina and baby Aria. When I asked Christina if she would mind me sharing their story, she said, “If we are going through this trial I believe it is for a greater good, and we never know how exactly God is using us, so I am always an open book.” Her attitude & example during this trial deserves every bit of admiration.
