The glimmer in the father of the groom’s eye when he saw his son for the first time in his suit. The overwhelming delight in the father of the bride’s face when he saw his daughter for the first time in her dress. As an observer I imagined the hug between mother & daughter on the way back up the aisle expressed equal parts “Thank You” and “We did it!” in a way so powerful that words could not have done justice. The joy of two people already navigating the at-times difficulties & yet jaw-dropping wonder of being parents together making the commitment to love each other. These are the memories Alex & Megan privileged me with capturing at their Strawberry Creek Ranch wedding this past summer. It. Was. Awesome.
Not often have I met my bride & groom’s immediate family, much less the extended before the wedding, but as luck would have it, Alex’s sister Savannah is my best friend. Quite often my photography partner in crime too. What a different experience to photograph a wedding with eyes as a family friend.

Strawberry Creek Ranch weddings are unlike anything I’ve ever seen, nestled in the mountains surrounding Granby Colorado. The venue boasts of these beautiful flower filled meadows, a creek and 360 degree mountain views. It balances rustic and beauty in true Colorado mountain ranch fashion. The barn loft provides an excellent contrast for a gorgeous, blush toned, full-skirted dress like Megan’s.
Megan & Alex’s then 2.5 year old Ari (now 3!) took comfort in the arms of her grandmothers. And eventually the sweetest little nap!
As someone who was proposed to with a Ring Pop, this bit here cracked me up! When it came time to present the rings, the best man handed the officiant a Ring Pop. Green apple flavored. Then he fished another (decoy) ring out of his pocket which he conveniently tossed into the lake. At last, he presented the third and final (real) ring.
